20 hours over 2 days, with online learning resources
G1B — Engine and Transmission Control Unit Programming (ECU & TCM): Develop operational skills in electronic engine and transmission management: extract and analyze ECU and TCU/TCM data, then modify and securely rewrite files in compliance with emissions standards.
Duration and price: 20 hours over 2 days. $1,990 USD per participant. Payment by card or ACH; company invoicing available.
Training location: Brickell City Center, 78 SW 7th Street, Miami, FL 33130, USA.
Who can attend: Professionals and individuals, including automotive technicians, engine tuners, electronics specialists, and reprogrammers.
Hybrid learning and resources: Expert-led theory and hands-on practice using real-world cases, with remote access to courses and training materials that remain available after the program. Teaching includes thematic learning units, component soldering and desoldering exercises, slideshows, interactive materials, and multiple-choice quizzes.
Enrollment: Open all year, with sessions every month. Training can begin within a maximum of 30 days after your first contact, depending on your preferred attendance date.
Assessment and completion: An initial assessment evaluates your starting level. A final assessment checks your knowledge and acquired skills. Enrollment confirmation is sent before training. An EMS Certificate of Completion stating the program’s objectives, nature, and duration is issued at the end. This certificate is neither a license nor a state certification; enrollment does not constitute state approval.
Disability and special needs: Contact contact.usa@ems-electronics.com so we can review participation options together.
Emissions compliance: We teach emissions-compliant practices only. Removing, disabling, or bypassing DPF, EGR, SCR/DEF systems or catalytic converters, and selling or installing defeat devices, is prohibited under the U.S. Clean Air Act. These operations are not covered by this program.

What you will learn
C1
Analyze how an engine or transmission control unit works, identify its roles and interactions with other vehicle systems, and study extraction methods to define a suitable intervention strategy.
C2
Identify ECU memory types and architectures by analyzing EEPROMs, microcontrollers, and electronic components to select the appropriate intervention method.
C3
Interpret the internal structure of ECU files, identify functional areas, and prepare modifications.
C4
Use professional ECU programming equipment and software, following reliable reading, backup, writing, and file-management procedures. C4.1: Magicmotorsport Flex, Flex Box, cable kits, StageX workflow, TCU cloning, Glitch mode, and Khorex procedures.
This training module is designed to provide a gradual and comprehensive mastery of engine control units (ECUs), from their structure to their programming, including the analysis of their components and the use of professional industry tools.
Core modules cover ECU operation, memory architecture, file structure, and professional reprogramming tools.
C4 and C4.1: ECU identification, reading, backup, writing, OBD/Service Mode, Bench/Boot pinouts, PCB connections (BDM/JTAG), and Magicmotorsport Flex.
C5
Analyze hexadecimal ECU files, interpret hex dumps, use Rocket Dump and AARK Kommander, and calculate checksums to handle raw data safely.
This section aims to provide the necessary technical foundations to interpret and manipulate the raw files extracted from the engine controllers.
The objectives are:
Discover and understand the nature of hexadecimal files used in ECUs.
Identify the possible types of reading and know how to interpret a hex dump file.
Know the structure of files and understand the associated functions.
Locate immobilizer data in a dump for ECU replacement and adaptation, including virginizing and cloning.
Use the software Rocket Dump, and AARK Kommander for extraction and interpretation.
Master calculations and corrections of checksums to ensure data consistency.
C6
Modify ECU files with mapping software and hex editors to adjust engine or transmission parameters in line with the intervention objectives and emissions requirements.
C6.1
Compare files and copy maps
C6.2
Gasoline and diesel optimization basics
C6.3
E85 Flex-fuel conversion basics
This section focuses on modifying ECU files for optimization or specific adaptations.
The developed skills include:
Knowing how to use mapping software and hex editors to modify files.
Make simple comparisons and perform partial or complete copies of maps.
Choose appropriate software for emissions-compliant Stage 1 optimization or E85 Flex-fuel calibration.
Use:
Use mapping software to compare files and perform controlled, emissions-compliant calibration changes.
Emissions compliance: no removal, disabling, or bypassing of DPF, EGR, SCR/DEF, or catalytic converters, and no defeat devices.

Hands-on training, expert instructors, and an EMS Certificate of Completion—not a license or state certification.
